Council is the highest political authority within the Municipality and has legislative and executive powers to exercise.

The core mandate of council is to formulate and approve policies for effective implementation.

Council ensures that proper services are delivered to the people through monitoring the implementation of the planned activities and government programs.

The department comprises of Council and Procurement and Disposal Unit.

Other services like recruitment of staff, accountability and land management are requested for from the district.

The department is fully operational with Council having 21 Councilors (9 Females and 12 Males) and at the helm is the mayor.

Procurement and Disposal Unit has two staff Senior Procurement officer-Male and Procurement Officer-Female). The contracts committee is well constituted with 4 members and the chairperson.
